AppJuice Host Capability Demo

AppJuice Host Capability Demo lets you confirm that your AppJuice environment is set up correctly. With a clean, guided interface, you can actively test file and folder pickers, save dialogs, notifications, microphone and camera access, screen capture, and even see a read‑only list of the devices connected to your AppJuice computer. Every test shows a clear pass or fail, so you know exactly what works.

Need the desktop app first? Download AppJuice for macOS, install it, then come back to install this app through AppJuice.

What you can test

  • Pick one or many files from your computer
  • Choose a folder
  • Pick a mix of files and folders at once
  • Save a test text file to any location you choose
  • Send a desktop notification
  • Open a picked file or folder in its default app
  • Preview a file without opening an editor
  • Reveal a file or folder in Finder or File Explorer
  • Open the appjuice.app website outside this app
  • Record a short audio clip from your microphone (playback stays local)
  • Preview your camera and capture a still image (image stays in memory)
  • Capture your screen or a window (preview stays local)
  • List connected Bluetooth, USB, serial, and HID devices on your AppJuice computer (counts only, no names)
  • Upload photos or files from the phone, tablet, or computer you're using right now (session‑only copies)
  • Generate and export a privacy‑safe diagnostic report

Safety and privacy

  • Every test is started by you; nothing runs automatically
  • All media (audio, video, images) stays in memory and is never saved to disk or included in the report
  • Device listings show only high‑level counts (e.g., “3 USB devices”, “2 Bluetooth connected”)—no device names, model numbers, or serial identifiers
  • Uploaded files are stored temporarily until you clear the session; they are not visible to other apps
  • No information ever leaves your device

Good to know

  • Most tests require the AppJuice desktop app; in a regular browser only the environment check and a few upload features work
  • Hardware listing only works on macOS – on other systems you’ll see “Unsupported”
  • Some tests, like “Open a picked path”, need you to pick a file or folder first; helpful hints will guide you

Version history

Latest - v1.14.1

Jul 30, 2026

This update fixes the Environment detection to correctly recognize the current AppJuice Environment Context. If your Electron or browser surface was showing as “Unsupported” even though it worked, it will now show the correct supported status.

  • Environment detection now uses the current AppJuice Environment Context schema, so supported Electron and browser surfaces no longer falsely report as unsupported
  • All environment evidence (phone, tablet, computer) asserts correctly when media APIs are available
  • No new tests or features were added

Previous - v1.14.0

Jul 29, 2026

This release transforms the app from a simple file‑picking tester into a comprehensive host capability lab. It adds microphone recording, camera preview, screen capture, local device inventory, a diagnostic report, and mobile‑friendly navigation.

  • New microphone, camera, and screen recording tests
  • Local device listing shows device counts (no names or identifiers)
  • Copyable/exportable diagnostic report
  • Mobile‑friendly navigation with section dropdowns
  • Environment detection now shows your device type (phone, tablet, or computer) and the AppJuice computer you’re connected to
